Rotary Connection – Didn't Want To Have To Do It
Rotary Connection - “Didn’t Want To Have To Do It”
This is the sample I chose for Sessions LA’s MICROWAVE MONDAYS biweekly beat making contest. Producers & Beat Makers: Go check out the contest. It’s a great way for folks to get inspired, share ideas, and learn from each other!
Rotary Connection was an American psychedelic soul band in the mid-60’s to 70’s from Chicago. One of its singers was a young woman who was a secretary at Chess Records at the time: Minnie Riperton. I was introduced to the Rotary Connection by my good friend & Pretty Buoyant Society partner Adriel Luis, who is one of the most creative people I know. We actually tried to make a song with this sample, but never got around to finishing it. I’m excited to see what you guys can do with it!
Microwave Mondays is just one aspect of how we create community around music at SESSIONS LA. Our organization also teaches djing, production, & recording to youth and young adults in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, we are fighting for our survival in this era of recession. In the absence of any funding, we are asking the community to help us survive by donating to our SAVE SESSIONS INDIEGOGO campaign. Please help!
